Hall and Ensom and Brading Butt are providing combined building surveying and quantity surveying services in connection with the alteration and refurbishment of the grade 2 listed gatehouse to the Froebel College campus at the university.  The original Victorian gatehouse has been extended a number of times, but still incorporates original design features including characteristic tuck pointing and decorative brickwork.  These elements, together with the octagonal main chimney are to be carefully repaired using traditional techniques and working in close cooperation with the conservation officer.  Part of the building is to remain in use as a gatehouse and the remainder is to be refurbished and refitted to provide staff accommodation.  We were pleased to be selected by the university for this project on the basis of our long experience of working with listed buildings.
